Palestinian Ambassador to United States Comes to Charlotte

Saturday, April 12, 2008 at 2:00 p.m at Marriott Center City, 100 West Trade Street (corner of Tryon), Charlotte, NC, 28202.

The Palestinian Ambassador to the United States, Afif Safeih, is giving a talk and will answer questions about issues surrounding the root of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as part of the 'Striving for Peace through Knowledge' talks.

The year 2008 marks a major anniversary for the Palestinians, the 60th anniversary of what they call The Catastrophe or "Al Nakba", when they were systematically forced from their homes and villages and also fled in the face of threats and violence. Although we see the repercussions of this displacement of over half the Palestinian population playing out in our news to this day, most Americans still do not understand the key issues or know how it all began. These talks have been organized to address these complex issues in a very simple, straight-forward manner for those interested, but not sure where to begin.

FREE and open to the public.
